Physiotherapy and hydrotherapy
The Chartered physiotherapists at Lynden Hill Clinic provide both the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy service. All members of the team have specialist experience in rehabilitation for a variety of conditions.
Why
do I need physiotherapy?
Physiotherapists have specialist
knowledge in many specific clinical areas but are also able to provide basic
exercise programmes to strengthen balance and mobility for anyone who feels
their abilities have recently deteriorated. This may be a particular area
of pain or stiffness or a more global reduction in ease of normal activities
of daily living.
Following a change in circumstances or after a recent hospital stay, many people choose the clinic for a period of intensive rehabilitation to ease the transition from hospital to home.
Will physiotherapy help me?
A wide scope of expertise includes;
orthopaedic, neurological, cardiorespiratory and conditions of the elderly.
Each patient will be individually assessed on their first day at the clinic. Following the assessment an appropriate treatment programme of physiotherapy combined with hydrotherapy will be agreed. This programme will be specifically tailored and relevant to each persons needs and personal goals.
We aim for an holistic approach to treat the whole person in a caring environment alongside a team of complimentary therapists.
Where will I have treatment?
Treatment sessions take place
in a purpose built unit adjacent to the Clinic.
The gym
The gym is spacious and appropriately equipped with easy
access for wheelchair users.
The
hydrotherapy pool
The adjoining hydrotherapy pool has
uniform depth and is maintained at a constant thirty-six degrees Celsius.
A specialist hoist allows easy access.
Water is a wonderful medium in which to exercise. It can provide freedom of movement to alleviate joint stiffness, combined with resistance to movement for muscle strengthening. It is an excellent opportunity to work on balance and walking in a safe environment. Water is also a good medium to work on core stability exercises and relaxation.
Exercises are specifically tailored to each individual so the water is used to your advantage. A specific assessment for hydrotherapy is required to ensure safety in the water.
I’m not staying at the clinic.
. . Can I receive these treatments?
All are welcome to the physiotherapy department for assessment
for both physiotherapy and hydrotherapy treatment, even if you are not staying
at the clinic.
Many patients who have received therapies whilst staying at the clinic return for review and treatment from home as outpatients.
Insurance
Our Physiotherapists are registered with the main insurance companies.
