Reflexology
Background
All systems of the body eg skeletal, vascular and
muscular have a corresponding point in the foot or hand. There are nerve
pathways (Meridians) that link these points to the corresponding body part.
Sometimes these pathways become congested and physical symptoms are felt. Thus by using pressure techniques on the feet to either stimulate or sedate the reflex points, congestions can be cleared so that the pathways can flow freely again. This helps the body to heal the physical symptoms.
Reflexology is a simple, safe and effective treatment that can be used to locate and treat areas of disfunction or imbalance in the body.
The Treatment Before treatment commences a detailed medical history will be taken, plus details of any current symptoms, medication or other treatments being received; all information is treated in the strictest confidence. Sleeping habits, emotional conditions and lifestyle are also noted Because Reflexology treats you as a whole person, it is necessary to have an understanding of all the factors that may be affecting your health; this allows the therapist to focus on the kind of treatment that will be appropriate to you as an individual.
During a reflexology treatment, you sit comfortably with your feet and legs supported. You need only remove your shoes and socks. the whole body is treated through the feet and hands in each session, if conditions dictate. The number of sessions needed will vary depending on the individual and the condition being treated.

What Can It Offer?
How Will I Feel After a Treatment? It is normal to experience any of the following reactions to a treatment. These occur as the body begins to clear out toxins and begin to heal itself.
After Care Advice Following a treatment, clients are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, have a light meal and should try to relax as much as possible to enjoy the full benefit from the treatment. Most reactions to the treatment are pleasant. However, because the treatment is activating the body's own healing powers, you may experience an increase in symptoms before you feel any relief or benefit. This is called a healing crisis and is nothing to worry about. It occurs when the body is cleansing itself both physically and emotionally. The reaction will vary depending on the imbalance within the body and should last no longer than 48 hours.
